And maybe I am. And maybe it’s pushing the envelope a little. But here’s the thing — I’m a freelancer and therefore not privileged to participate in the glorious Summer Friday scheme thought up by some brilliant executive (or, more likely, some executive’s brilliant wife). Summer Fridays are Fridays on which employees can opt to work only half the day – so long as they make up the time during the rest of the week – in order to more fully enjoy the summer sun out in the Hamptons. Again, as a freelancer, I’m not included in this — so I tend to wear my cutest, most summery outfit on Friday just to make up for it.

Suspenders. White (cotton, this time, tho I love linen in the summertime), short-sleeved, button-up. Cut-off jean shorts. Vintage oxblood lace-ups (sans socks, naturally). Too much (or, not enough)? I like it. The ladies in marketing love it, and say . The men on our sales team greet me with side-long glances and a “Hey, JS, you look…so comfortable!”
