“Do you always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it? I always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it.” – Daisy, The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
Happy Summer! Like Daisy, I wait for this day all year. I appreciate the other three seasons for what they are, but in the midst of fall’s fading light, winter’s frigidity, and spring’s driving rain, I can be heard reminiscing about the summer sun. The season usually kicks off with a picnic in Central Park on Memorial Day. I was at my college reunion that weekend, however, and the weather was awful. Rainy and cold. Not summery at all.
We can forget all of that now, though – this weather is gorgeous! Finally, my Summer Fridays can be put to good use! Being an official part of the corporate world, now, I do partake in summer hours, which means I’m at the office working hard for 4 hours before escaping to Central Park with a bottle of champagne to while away the hours in a sunshine-y, bubbly, state.
And what does one wear on a Summer Friday in June? In honor of the Summer Solstice, here’s the first outfit of my Summer Friday 2013 Series:
Hemp Jacket: KriziaUomo | White, V-Neck Tee: Joe Fresh | Plaid Shorts: Calvin Klein | Boat Shoes: Maine Woods
Briefcase: Kenneth Cole | Sunglasses: Kenneth Cole
